The plaque commemorates Am\u00e1lia Freund, who donated the value of half the land on Splaiul Kunz in memory of her husband Lip\u00f3t Freund and as a token of gratitude to Bern\u00e1t Deutsch, president of the Fabric Jewish community, who worked hard to build the synagogue.<\/p>\n

The plaque was placed in 2010 on a wall in the courtyard of the Community House, the entrance from M\u0103r\u0103\u015fe\u015fti Street no. 10. <\/span><\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

This synagogue, built in honor of the one and ineffable God (indescribable) in 1899, became too small because, with God's help, the number of faithful increased, so the chiefs and leaders of the community, inspired by God, decided to increase it. As the prophet said, \"Increase the space of your tent, the walls of your tabernacle.\" The work was completed in 1922 and well executed. The rabbi, the president and the notables of the community during this time were: Jakob Ben Elazar Katz Singer, the president of the rabbinical tribunal (text in Hebrew)<\/p>\n

Katz is an abbreviation, \u05db\u05f4\u05e5, Hebrew, being the initials of the expression Kohen Tzedek or Kohen Tzadok, \"priest of justice\", meaning that the bearer of the name is the descendant of the Kohanim on the paternal line, an epithet used in the seventeenth century to designate the male descendants of Aaron, the brother of Moses.<\/span><\/p>\n

The initials of the words Av Beit Din, AB''D, the president of the rabbinical tribunal, are used in the text. In modern times, the title is used as an honorary one for a rabbi.<\/p>\n<\/blockquote>\n

Jakob Singer<\/b><\/span><\/a>the rabbi of the neolog community of Fabric. He was the spiritual leader of the community and is unlikely to have had a direct involvement in the project, as it is included in the Hebrew text, separating his name from the names written in Latin letters of those who were actually involved in the execution of the work.<\/span><\/p>\n

Rezs\u00f6 (Rudolf) Deutsch<\/b> (d. 1928, another d. 1933; Rudolf Deutsch d. 1940 are buried in the Jewish cemetery), he was president of the Fabric community in the 1920s. He owned two women's clothing stores in the Fabric and Josephine neighborhoods from Timi\u015foara. In the 1920s he was the owner of the building on Ion Luca Caragiale Street no. 1, which in the 1930s became the headquarters of the elementary school in Fabric.)<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. Adolf Weil<\/b> (d. 1931, Timi\u015foara Jewish cemetery), vice-president of the community; primary care physician)<\/span><\/p>\n

Dr. \u00d6d\u00f6n Kov\u00e1cs<\/b> (1873, Budapest - 1950 or 1952, Timisoara, Jewish Cemetery), gynecologist and pediatrician. Physician in Remetea constituency. Employed physician of the Theater. His father was a jewelry merchant. President of the sports association TAC (?), Honorary president of the musical association from Fabric. His wife, Miriam \/ Maria, born Blumberg, a pianist, has been active in various charities. Miriam\/Maria<\/b>, n\u0103sc. Blumberg<\/b>, pianist\u0103, a fost activ\u0103 \u00een diferite societ\u0103\u021bi caritative. <\/span><\/p>\n

In 1911, Dr. \u00d6d\u00f6n Kov\u00e1cs became the owner of the building on 3 August 1919 no. 8, which had belonged to Jakob Blumberg, who died in the same year.
