Iosif (Jozsef) Marcus

Latin teacher. director of the Israelite High School for Boys (1925-1945)

He was born into a family of Jewish merchants. He studied philology. In 1906 he was a teacher in Chernivtsi, then in Siret, later he was appointed school principal in Storojineț, then in Chernivtsi. From 1925 until the end, he was a Latin teacher and director of the Israelite High School for Boys in Timişoara. He was noted for his pedagogical qualities and his personality as a thoughtful and conciliatory director.

A fost membru în Asociația Națională Evreiască, în Hevra Kadişa (asociația care se ocupă de inmormântări si cimitir) şi în administrația căminului de bătrâni.

A publicat o lucrare întitulată „Schönheiten der römischen Sprache” si alte scrieri filosofice.
