Kiddush cup

Kiddush (the word means 'sanctification') is the blessing of wine or grape juice, recited before a meal, to sanctify the Sabbath and the Jewish holidays, which all begin on the eve. The Sabbath begins on Friday evening, and the holidays the night before.

After the person reciting the blessing has drunk wine, the rest is divided into the cups of the other participants in the Sabbath dinner.
